BELIEFS AND VALUES

Beliefs

1.    We believe:  The Bible is the final authority and is inspired by God.
2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.

2.    We believe:  In a Triune God.
Colossians 2:9-10 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority.
a.    God is the all-knowing, all-powerful, always present Father and Creator. He loves all people.
Acts 17:24-28 The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands.  And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men live and breath and everything else.  From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact place where they should live.  God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being.  As some of your own poets have said, We are his offspring.
b.    Jesus is the Son of God, the foundation of the church.  He was born of the virgin Mary, led a sinless life among mankind, died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead, and is coming again.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
c.    The Holy Spirit is our teacher, counselor, and comforter who lives within the believer and empowers us to do God's will
John 14:26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

3.    We believe:  Prayer is foundational to the effectiveness of the church and is how we communicate with God and He with us.
Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

4.    We believe: All things are possible with Christ.
Matthew 19:26 Jesus looked at them and said, With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.

5.    We believe:   No one is without sin.  We are saved by grace through faith in Christ.   We must be born again.
Romans 3:23-24 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

6.    We believe:  Baptism is a public confession of our faith in Christ.
Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

7.    We believe:  Communion is a remembrance that Christ paid for our sins, through his death on the cross, and secured our place in heaven through the shedding of his blood.
I Cor 11:23-36 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you:  The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.  In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.  For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes

8.    We believe: All who put their faith in Jesus Christ, and proclaim Him as Lord and Savior, will have eternal life.
1 John 5:13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

Values

1.    Worship:  Gathering together corporately to praise God and lift him up.
1 Psalm 100:1-2 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.

2.    Mission Work:  Loving and helping others in need.  Serving others.  Supporting those doing this work.
Matthew 25:35-36 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in.  I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.

3.    Bible Teaching and Preaching:  Hearing, learning, and applying the word of God
Romans 15:4 For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

4.    Prayer:  In all forms, at all times, in all types, in all situations, without ceasing.
Philippians 4: 6, 7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

5.    Community: We care for one another, accepting one another and supporting and encouraging one another.
Hebrews 10: 24, 25 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.  Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

6.    Humility:  Putting others first, forgiving, keeping no record of wrong.
Ephesians 4:32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

7.    Witnessing:  Sharing what Jesus has done with those who do not have a relationship with Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:20 We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.  We implore you on Christ's behalf; be reconciled to God.

8.    Integrity:  Solid, complete, honest, without reproach, to be like Jesus.

Colossians  3:17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
